  • Pulling/pushing putts

I started out putting right handed then switched left handed
I notice for myself no matter which side I putt from I’m dominant right hand to control the direction of the ball

From the right side my trail right arm seem to cause more pushes
From the left side my right arm is the lead arm and dominant arm and I tend to pull ball right of the cup

I wondering if I should just play for my misses. Especially longer putt where the “aim” is get within 2 feet of the hole

    Hey dlam!
    Have you tried putting CROSS-HANDED?
It would be interesting if you got the same pattern/result?

Yes. I putted cross handed from left side and works wonderfully for few rounds
With conventional grip from the left side I would aim for the pull and forward press to “stabilize “ the face Okay for distance control. Not reliable for shorter putts where minute aiming is crucial
switch to cross handed and was great for short putts as I felt as was “already forward pressed” and aiming was just a little easier For longer putts was not as comfortable though I learned to just use the left arm only
Over time I develop better at longer putts with left arm only stroke but the mid length strokes were a bit of a
problem as my arms would fight each other

I started hovering the putter with my left arm like my driver. Good for inside 2 feet, longer putts > 15 feet but felt like too much tension for other length putts

I find for myself the 7-8 feet length putts my arms would be fight each most for “control” no matter how relaxed I try to make myself Lots of pulls as I allow left arm to control
i have been trying to relax my arms and just use the upper back and shoulder to stroke rather than an arms swing and it’s working better however I been experimenting with claw which fully pronates my left forearm which limits my pull and forces me to stroke my upper back and shoulder muscles
I think it’s grip of the future for mid length putts I will still use cross handed for now
