    Stone skimming is a valid analogy but a lot can go wrong with it when applied to a golf swing.

      Yes and no. The basic motion in direction of target is very similar to the golf swing.
      My Issue with skipping stone is, while using only 1 arm, my tendency is not turning enough. I am typically far away from turning the back fully to the target at the end of the backswing, but can anyhow skip the stone perfectly.

        The reason you do not turn fully in the back swing when skipping a stone is that you do not see your self skipping it all the way across the lake. A better thought is that of a submarine style baseball pitcher.
