  • Bowed or Hinged

Here are some notes I took to follow along with the new video about the wrists' position in the Backswing.

    Radius Bone of the Forearm

    Ulna Bone of the Forearm

    HINGED WRIST

    Lead Hand is slightly cupped.
Load both and Release both anatomical snuff boxes.
    Cut Release.

    RUD Radial-Ulnar Deviation
RD Radial-deviation = the thumb moves up towards radius bone of the forearm.
UD Ulnar-deviation = the pinkie finger moves down towards the ulna bone of the forearm.

    Tasks
    1. Loading of the fishing pole.
    2. Hammering a nail in a door frame.
    3. Baseball batter
    4. Sword Analogy
    Advantages:
    1. Effortless
    2. Efficient
    3. Velocity increase

    BOWED WRIST
    Lead Hand is bowed.
Loading of the Trail Hand and the Lead Hand is along for the ride.
    Cut Through/BodyHold Off Release.

Dorsiflexion = back of the hand moves up towards the forearm.
Palm-flexion = palm of the hand moves down towards the forearm.

    Tasks
    1. Skip the Stone on water analogy.
    2. Baseball Pitch of a fast ball.

Just watched the Bow /Hinge wrist. I certainly can not play with shut clubface like DJ. I’m more “open “ clubface at the top of the swing like 90% of golfers I’m standing to understand why Nicklaus said about shut face players like Trevino in his day. As Hinge like Rory is easier was for me to play long term. When I try the “bow method” I can only bring my arms half way up in the backswing
